Littlehampton is a beautiful town with an unspoilt beach only twenty minutes from Chichester, thirty minutes from Brighton and ninety minutes from London. We've got everything here you might need for a day or a weekend away at the seaside from dodgems and amusements at Harbour Park to boating lakes, pretty parks and a nature reserve with rare birds, plants and fossils at West Beach. West Beach is an area of Special Scientific Interest and is a great place for a walk after a relaxing lunch at either East Beach or West Beach Cafe.
If you're feeling more energetic, you may wish to visit the tennis courts with racket hire, adventure golf and a good pitch and putt course which are all open year round. Bring a cricket set or a kite and play on the green behind the beach, or even try your hand at kitesurfing - we hold the British Kitesurfing Championships in front of The East Beach Cafe every year.
Outside Littlehampton, the South Downs are a ten minute drive and are great for bike rides and long walks. At the foot of the South Downs you will find Amberley, a charming, well-kept English village which is well worth a stop. The Amberley Working Museum is a thirty-six acre open museum dedicated to the industrial heritage of South-East England and makes for a great day out.
Arundel is four miles away and is the home of Arundel Castle, the spectacular seat of the Duke of Norfolk, as well as Arundel Cathedral. There are also loads of pretty antique shops, bookshops and delis as well as a farmers' market on the 3rd Saturday of every month from 9am-1pm. You can catch a boat from Littlehampton right up the River Arun to the centre of Arundel.
If it is car boot sales you love, then Ford Airfield Market is one of the best in the South East, with brilliant bric-a-brac and antiques. Top tip - you've got to get there before 9 am to catch the best bargains!
The city of Chichester is 20 mins away and has great shops, as well as the renowned Festival Theatre and the multi-award winning Pallant Gallery which has one of the best collections of modern art in the country.
Fishbourne Roman Palace just outside Chichester was built in AD75 and has the largest collection of in situ mosaics in Britain as well as a reconstructed Roman garden. Bignor Roman Palace in Pulborough also has some very fine mosaics.
Also within twenty-five minutes' drive from Littlehampton is Goodwood House, where the you can visit the Festival of Speed and Glorious Goodwood horse racing, and the Cass Sculpture Foundation, a wonderful outdoor museum dedicated to the promotion of 21st Century British sculpture.
